Volunteer of the Month: Vicki Landry
Vicki’s journey with Clear Path for Veterans New England began long before she started volunteering. With her husband being an Air Force Vietnam Veteran, they attended programs together, finding solace and community within our organization. Sadly, in January last year, Vicki lost her husband to a sudden fatal heart attack. It was then that her dear friend and fellow Clear Path volunteer, Karin Swanfeldt, encouraged her to join our team.
Since then, Vicki has become an integral part of our Thursday canteen, bringing warmth and compassion to every interaction. She found support and healing among our staff, volunteers, and especially the veterans we serve. Through our programs like T.A.P.S (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors), Vicki found additional avenues for healing and connection.
Not only does Vicki contribute her time at the canteen, but she also participates in various programs like the Native American Flute class, where she’s forged lasting friendships and discovered new passions. Her dedication shines through as she ensures our weekly farmers market is stocked with great items for our participants.
Vicki’s words reflect her heartwarming commitment: “It warms my heart to see the many vets at the canteen sharing together in a meal and conversation. My heart is filled with gratitude for these fine men and women for their service, and I am blessed to share my time with them.”
Clear Path for Veterans New England is immensely grateful for Vicki’s presence and dedication. Thank you, Vicki, for your unwavering support and for being a beacon of hope within our community.
