The Family Force Group
The families of Veterans are a FORCE! Our force is here to support and uplift each other, educate ourselves, do community service and have FUN!
The mission of CP4VNE’s Family Force group is to provide caregivers and families of Service Members and Veterans an opportunity to give back to the veteran communities through fellowship, outreach, charity, and education – while providing the chance to connect with others with shared experiences.
The Family Force Group knows that all too often, the families of Veterans are overlooked. Everyone knows that serving your country is a difficult job, and Service Members (SM) and veterans can have many obstacles in their lives. But have you ever thought about what the families of these men and women are going through or have gone through? After many years of separation and war, loneliness, fear, raising children without the help of the SM, deaths of friends and spouses, illness, injuries….many things that a veteran goes through in life, the family is going through as well. It can be a very stressful life. Later, when the SM retires or leaves the military, there are still ongoing issues, PTSD, long-term injuries, suicide, depression etc.
The Family Force has four main components:
1. HAVING FUN TOGETHER
Family Force is designed to bring together the families of veterans and SM’s in a fun and useful way, to share stories and concerns and just have a group of understanding individuals at your side. We will have at least 3 events per year geared toward just having fun!
2. COMMUNITY SERVICE
Our group is full of dedicated people who have spent a large part of their life-giving and serving and want to continue that trend, giving back to Veterans, SM’s, and their families in the local area. We will create boxes of food to feed needy Veterans, SM’s and families in the local area for three major holidays:
- Easter
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
We will look for other community service projects as well
3. FUNDRAISING
For us to do our community service events, we need to raise money. Family Force will organize and execute three fundraisers each year, with the proceeds going mostly to the food boxes
4. EDUCATION
Educating ourselves on the effects of military life on ourselves, our children, and the veteran/SM is important. We will host 3 educational opportunities each year, including topics such as Resiliency, PTSD, Healthy living etc.
If you are a family member of a Veteran or SM and would like to join our group, please fill out our volunteer form, and under additional notes, please put FAMILY FORCE. • Mail a check payable to CP4VNE to 27 Jackson Road, Suite 200, PO Box 2073, Devens, MA 01434
